General Meeting

September 20, 2011

Meeting held at the Panda Inn in Pasadena, CA and called to order at 8:40 p.m. Dr. Jennifer Lynn presented information to the membership about dental health and teeth cleaning procedures done by her clinic prior to the meeting.

Roll Call

A quorum was present. Regular members attending were Connie Koehler, Miriam Kahan, Beverly Streicher, Karla Cohen, Jackie Whitham, Rose Clime, Barbara Zapf, Marilyn Smith, Lauren Smith, Jill Steging, Anna Marzolino, Mary Peltier, Bonney Snyder. Associates attending were Deborah Bowen, Maurine Stewart, Victoria Gosnell. Guests were Dr. Jennifer Lynn and Pete Gottfried.

Report of the President
Connie reported that the Miyamura Sun Catchers are to be the trophies for the upcoming supported entry shows, as approved at the July general meeting, and reminded everyone to check out Benchmarks at the National website (www.scwtca.org) where information about our June 2011 specialties at Great Western and the judges’ critiques are posted.

Report of the Secretary and Membership
A thank you note was received from Kayce Healy for her Sweeps judging assignment at Great Western.

Report of the Treasurer

Rescue
Beverly Streicher reports of several contacts from owners asking about giving up their Wheaten to rescue and one Wheaten that needed re-homing that had originally been adopted out as a puppy 7 years ago. One of the rescued Wheatens needed major training to re-habilitate him and the cost was over $1000.00. He is now adopted. Two are being housed at Bergit Coady’s kennel waiting for new homes.

Website
Bonney Snyder, ways and means co-chair, reported that Pay Pal will be integrated and our online boutique will be up and running on our website. Bonney and Ann Leigh have a lot of ideas for soft goods and request that people send them suggestions as to soft good sources.

Fun Day 2011
The flyer is posted on our website. The park is confirmed. The lunch vendor has been confirmed. Connie will oversee morning hospitality, and several volunteers have offered to supply refreshments. Our October General Meeting will follow the Fun Day festivities.

B Match 2011
Motion made, seconded, and approved to hold our B Match in conjunction with the Los Encinos Match on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Los Encinos’ match will be at 10:00 a.m. and our match will start at 1:00 p.m. Tami Herzog will judge our match.

GWTA 2012 & 2013
Nominations received for our Specialty Judge for Friday June 2012:
Vandra Huber, David Alexander, Betty Ann Stenmark, Joe Walton

Motion was made seconded and passed to combine the nominations and voting for the 2013 judges for Friday and Sunday shows. The judge that receives the most votes is to be the Sunday judge and the #2 judge will be for the Friday show.

New business
Doghair ‘n’ Eggnog Classic Potluck
Several members have suggested that the club revive the holiday potluck at the Doghair ‘n’ Eggnog Classic Sunday show (LBKC, Dec. 18). More discussion will follow at the October general meeting.
