The inaugural Wheaten Fun Day took place almost three decades ago in October 1994. Its resounding success led to its establishment as an annual event, with only two years being skipped (one of them being 2020, for reasons we’re all familiar with!). Fun Day offers our club members and friends an opportunity to partake in various enjoyable activities alongside our furry companions, fostering social connections and leisurely moments. While the location of Fun Day has changed throughout the years, the primary objective of having a great time remains constant. We frequently invite guest speakers and AKC-certified specialists to enlighten participants about different AKC titles, such as CGC (Canine Good Citizen), Trick Dog (various levels), Farm Dog, Barn Hunt, Scent Work, Rally, and Obedience, among others. However, the true essence lies in the shared laughter and smiles generated by the progressively more amusing games and costumes each year.
Since 2015, Fun Day has found its home in the scenic Lake Forest Sports Park, located in Orange County. The venue boasts spacious gazebo areas adorned with picnic tables and barbecues, surrounded by ample green spaces for our furry friends to roam. Food, drinks, and opportunities to purchase or win Wheaten or dog-related items are available to support the club and rescue efforts.
Whether you own a Wheaten or simply yearn for a dose of Wheaten Greetin’, everyone is welcome to attend!
