Report of the President

Bonney Snyder thanked Connie Koehler for organizing today’s event. She also announced that contrary to rumors, Wood Wornall will be judging Friday at Great Western as scheduled. Bonney thanked the membership for their vote to transfer $5,000.00 from the Rescue Account to the General Account, to cover ongoing rescue expenses which have been financed by the SCWTCSC General Account for years. Bonney announced that as of now, she does not intend to exercise that option, as the General Account is presently good shape. She explained that she would prefer to extend, rather than eliminate, that ability to draw one time upon the Rescue Account in case of a future unforeseen emergency.

Rescue Report

This last month we took in an eleven year old Wheaten, and her six year old daughter, who had lived in the same household and were surrendered together by their owners. Roxy and Maisy have both been placed, although Maisy, the six year old, continues to have some issues.

Greeting Cards

No cards were sent out last month.

2015 Great Western Report

Ann feels that everything is well in hand, however we need more of everything for the morning hospitality, which is our weakest area or preparation. As of now, we do not have volunteers to lay out our morning hospitality. Bonney and Ann are asking those who have volunteered to bring food to please bring the food on the appropriate serving dish or tray, with whatever serving utensils are needed to enable us to serve ourselves. In the past it was enough to drop the food and run, because other Club members kindly set it up for us. That is not possible this year.

Ann decided to carry fewer types of merchandise for this year. These will be embroidered hand and large bath towels for $12.00 and $21.00 respectively, aprons, tote bags for $25.00, beach wraps in waffle material and terrycloth, a few sweatshirts, and hoodies as our big ticket item at $50.00. Ann didn’t not repeat using Desert Ark again this year, and the quality and consistency of the soft goods has greatly improved. We have not yet sold the merchandise online this year, but we have the capacity to do so. Ann will be sending Lesley DeMattia photos of the merchandise for that purpose. Lesley will generate a distribution list to be emailed to SCWTCSC members.

Laura Virant and Debbie Bowen have made wonderful table decorations, which will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the Dinner on the Green.

Beverly has received some very nice donations this year, but is concerned about the number of raffle items, and is asking for more donations. Connie Koehler will be assisting Beverly this year, and will be available to collect donations at the Mission Circuit on Saturday and Sunday.

Membership Report

We have received five or six applications from new associate members. The membership applications are available to be downloaded at our Club’s website, wheaten.org.

Pot Luck

This year’s annual Pot luck will return to last year’s site, Debbie Bowen’s clubhouse, on July 12th.

New Business

Annual Installation and Holiday Dinner

Il Fornaio in Pasadena has been suggested as a centrally located possibility for a new meeting site. Miriam Kahan will be contacting a number of restaurants to determine their potential availability and their prices. Possible dates for the Holiday Dinner are Saturday and Sunday on November 21st and 22nd, as well as Sunday, November 29th.

The members decided to choose November 29th. By another show of hands, the SCWTCSC membership also decided to hold this years event as a luncheon or brunch instead of as a dinner in the evening.

Laura Virant thanked all the Club members who participated in the Pet Fair this year by both staffing and decorating the booth. The booth was spectacular, and deservedly won 1st place for Best Booth and a $125.00 check.

There will be not General Meeting in June.

A motion to adjourn was made, seconded, and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.

Thank you to Lesley DeMattia for taking notes in my absence.
